That's right. Buddha Eden . We would never have known about it except that Mama got a message from her brother to tell her she was near it when we were at Obidos. Thank goodness for FaceTube. Anyway, it was one of the highlights of the trip so far.
Apparently a Portuguese vineyard owner felt bad about all the buddhas that the Taliban had destroyed so he opened his land up to collecting Buddhas. It is an amazing place. In the middle of nowhere and in the middle of a vineyard.
There aren't just Buddhas there but all kinds of tremendous statues and sculptures and gardens and lakes and the most fabulous tree house and a restaurant. It was amazing. And even more so as for most of the day we were the only ones there. Hope you like photographs!!! Mama took enough. Sorry there are no caption. Unfortuantely most of the work was unsigned.
Quite simply breath-taking. At this rate you'll be a sculptor when you grow up! Gorgeous stuff and so beautiful. Thank mama for us. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the one with all the blue men! You look really good. So much to say about all of these - magic!
ReplyDeleteA famous Chinese gentleman once said, "A picture is worth a thousand words". What a great idea your Mama had to focus just on pictures, especially with such stunning sights to choose from, Little One. I also like the story behind this spectacular exhibition.
ReplyDeleteHappy travelling and all my love,,
